We are looking for a Lead Character Artist who is passionate about creating high-quality, realistic characters and is eager to join us in our desire to push quality to the next level. You will report to the Development Director.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Character Artist, you will manage:

  • You will sculpt high-resolution characters
  • Create clean game topology, UV’s and textures
  • Work with Production to manage the character art team’s daily activities
  • Work with other departments to ensure the Character art meets the game design needs
  • Help with character design
  • Work with Art Director to enhance high visual quality of character models
  • Partner with engineers and tech artists to develop a character art pipeline
  • Mentor both our character teams through feedback
  • Communicate the visual design of the characters through art specifications, style guides, and reference material
  • Help establish workflows and reference material for outsourcing
  • Provide feedback to outsourcing partners
  • You will report to the Development Director

Skills We Look For

  • 7+ years of experience in a related field
  • Previous character lead experience within a game production environment
  • Experience with anatomy and fundamental art skills
  • Maya or similar 3D modeling software
  • Expert sculpting skills using ZBrush
  • Expert knowledge of PBR texture/material workflows
  • Experience with Marvelous Designer and clothing creation
  • Real-time hair creation and high-res grooming
  • Hard surface modeling
  • Experience with Substance Painter or Mari
  • Experience with photogrammetry
  • Understanding of rigging and skinning
  • Knowledge of FACS based facial blendshape creation
  • Passion for collaboration with other artists, designers, and programmers
