TV & Movies Writer

Dexerto are looking for talented TV & Movie writers. The ideal candidate will have experience of writing about the hottest shows, films, and personalities for a publication,

Dexerto is known for its coverage of gaming, esports and online culture, but we are also expanding into more traditional forms of entertainment. Therefore, we need writers who have a passion for television and film who can identify stories that will resonate with our audience who enjoy personality-driven content.

You’ll be able to break the biggest news but also be on top of the big talking points, rumours and drama. Ideally, you’d also have contacts within the industry, enabling you to get the latest stories before they break and attend media events when they occur.

As well as writing for the website, you will be expected to post on social media, keeping the followers up to date on the latest news as it happens, finding engaging viral content, and interacting with the audience.

You’ll need a snappy writing style and be able to craft engaging headlines that will include important keywords. As a result, some SEO knowledge is desirable.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of TV and Movies
  • A snappy and compelling writing style
  • Able to write to short deadlines under pressure
  • Have a keen attention to detail – can spot grammatical errors and fact check.
  • Creative ability – able think of feature ideas and suggest news stories that will resonate with our audience
  • Is confident with social media
  • SEO knowledge desirable but not essential
  • Able to work full-time hours (40) without other education or job commitments
  • Own computing equipment that can run Photoshop and be able to use it competently
  • Experience with content management systems is desirable
