Deviation Games is looking for a Senior Visual Effects Artist to create top tier visual effects for AAA game projects. The Senior VFX Artist will work with an experienced team of artists and programmers to create effects that bring immersive game experiences, create memorable moments, and help create a visual style for the game.

In collaboration with the Art Director and Game Director, the Senior Visual Effects Artist will create performant and visually impressive effects. The Senior VFX Artist will work with the Tools Team to help identify and develop the VFX toolkit for the studio.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and maintain VFX art production pipelines and tools regarding VFX content creation
  • Interface with Art Directors and Game Directors to produce their vision of the VFX and collaborate with other artists and team members to create the VFX
  • Problem solve challenging VFX requests into actionable tasks, provide options, collaborate with other team members across disciplines to lay out a plan of action, and create solutions that will satisfy the stakeholders
  • Work with Producers on scheduling departmental tasks
  • Always learning and improving your skillset while keeping up to date with industry trends and techniques, learn new software packages and continue to apply traditional art skills
  • Communicate new techniques to the team and incorporate them into the production pipeline

Requirements:

  • Five years of videogame experience as a VFX artist
  • Two or more shipped AAA video game titles
  • Traditional art and animation skills
  • Familiar with PBR systems
  • Experienced with 2D packages such as Photoshop and Premiere/After FX
  • Experienced with 3D packages such as Maya, Houdini or similar simulation packages
  • Author your own visual effects from scratch to finished in-game assets
  • Expert with video game workflows, tools, particle systems, lighting, texture painting, texture/UV animation, UV layout, engine parameters/optimizations, material setup, and in-game animation
  • Work closely with Art Director and Concept Department to create custom visual effects
  • Manage, coordinate, and vet outsource efforts with producers
  • Create, document, and maintain VFX and shader libraries
