Crytek is looking for a creatively minded independent Environment Artist.

Relocation & Remote Work

Although we believe living close to our studio helps foster team spirit and stronger bonds between team members, we understand that people have different needs and expectations for their place of residence. You have a choice of three location options, allowing you to work with Crytek from anywhere you wish:

  1. Come to our modern headquarters in Frankfurt and receive an attractive relocation package and have access to all of our benefits.
  2. If you are already living in a European Union member state, we are able to offer you a permanent work contract and allow you to work remotely as an employee from there.
  3. If you are interested in full-time remote work in any other country outside of the European Union, we can offer you a freelance contract arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Creating highpoly and lowpoly models of environmental objects (trees, bushes, props, buildings, tilesets).
  • Creating efficient UV layouts that work well within the engine/platform constrains.
  • Create believable environments within the engine.
  • Create game-ready assets given the technical limitations.
  • Derive a well structured lowpoly model from the high poly model.
  • Photorealistic Texturing of environmental objects.
  • Work independently on asset sets.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional game production experience.
  • A strong ability to create believable environments within a games engine.
  • Ability to derive a well structured lowpoly model from the high poly model.
  • Strong understanding of efficient UV layout, PBR pipeline and modular level creation methods.
  • Strong knowledge of 3dsmax, Photoshop and Zbrush / Mudbox.
  • The ability to manage and supervise junior artists and willingness to carry out mentorship tasks.
  • A strong understanding of shader functionality.
  • Focused, motivated and effective on all tasks through completion.
  • A passion for games.
  • Good English communication and writing skills.
  • Positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Be proactive and self-motivated and complete tasks within given time constraint.

Pluses

  • Experience with CRYENGINE.
  • Substance Designer, Substancer Painter or Quixel product knowledge.
  • Experience with photogrammetry.
  • Traditional painting skills.
  • Outsourcing experience.
