Position Summary, Responsibilities and Expectations:
Provide mechanical design support and engineering decision-making to deliver next-generation PC cooling and consumer electronics products to timely launch schedules, according to product and marketing requirements
Develop and maintain mechanical CAD models, assemblies, and drawings to support product development and testing activities
Plan, execute, and document mechanical, thermal, airflow, acoustic, and reliability testing, including wind tunnel fan testing and thermal test vehicle validation
Own execution of test plans and checklists, including firmware-related functional tests, in collaboration with electrical and firmware engineering teams
Provide creative and practical solutions for simple- to complex engineering, testing, and scheduling challenges
Collaborate extensively with electrical, thermal, firmware engineers, product managers, designers, manufacturing, and internal or external partners (suppliers, test labs) to ensure successful development and launch of new products
Maintain regular and consistent communication across teams, including reporting of test results, project status, risks, and change control as required
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, thermal, and system-level issues identified during validation and testing phases
Prioritize deliverables, tasks, and issues; manage test scope and change requests against scheduling and resource constraints
Support EVT, DVT, OOBE, and regulatory compliance activities throughout the product development cycle
Contribute inputs for the mechanical and validation portions of component program development budgets and schedules
Proactively assist with cost-reduction initiatives through design optimization, material selection, and validation of alternative solutions
Actively support and continuously improve internal lab capabilities, test methods, fixtures, and validation processes
Create, review, and maintain mechanical and EE-related CAD, BOM, DFM, and test documentation as required
Support exit meetings, core team meetings, design reviews, and escalation meetings with clear technical input and data-driven recommendations
Essential Skills and Experience:
Proficiency in mechanical engineering analysis, development, validation, and documentation
Hands-on experience with mechanical construction design, including sheet metal and polymer injection-moulded components
Advanced 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or similar)
Strong assembly and detail drawing skills
Solid understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) principles
Ability to analyse and interpret test data and design options for critical features and determine optimal solutions
Ability to validate both novel and existing designs through structured testing and experimentation
Experience developing and executing mechanical, thermal, airflow, and acoustic test procedures
Basic knowledge of turbomachinery, particularly axial fans and impellers
Good understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer principles
Excellent attention to detail in both design control and test execution
Strong prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to work across multiple parallel projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear reporting of test results and conclusions
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
3+ years industry experience
Experience with injection-moulding design and polymer materials
PDM/PLM system experience is a plus
SolidWorks CSWA / CSWP certification is a plus
Experience with SolidWorks Simulation (FEM) or other analysis tools is a plus
Python or scripting experience for test automation or data analysis is a plus
