Our UI Engineers help bring the game’s rich 2D and 3D UI screens to life and are responsible for all technical aspects of UI features, including frontend screens, in-game HUD elements, user interactions and overall user experience. The focus is on delivering the vision of the UI art and design teams to build remarkable games that are a joy to interact with.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to a Technical Director you will:

  • Technical leader of the UI engineering team, providing both people management and technical guidance

  • Guide delivery of all UI features from concept to delivery. Involving collaboration with other engineering groups and specialist disciplines, including artists, game designers and audio

  • Team management responsibilities, including recruitment, appraisals, goal setting and best practices

  • Motivate and inspire team members

  • Mentor junior developers

  • Work with the production team on project scoping and task estimation

  • Take an active part in developing technical designs and direction of large UI features

  • Implement high-quality code and complex features in a large codebase

  • Optimise existing UI systems and features

  • Help to identify technical debt in multiple areas of the code

  • Help guide the underlying UI technology forward with the UI systems group

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Expert C++ knowledge (6+ years).

  • Expertise in UI related programming.

  • Data-driven and object-oriented design.

  • Experience in either a senior or lead role.

  • Shipped a full-lifecycle title in a UI related role.

  • UI design patterns (MVVM in particular).

  • Use of debugging and profiling tools.

  • Finite state machines.

  • 3D Maths and geometry.

  • Cross platform and console development experience.
