Graduate Games Designer

Looking to kick-start your games career? Codemasters, the racing-game specialists are seeking a talented designer to join the team and commence their career in games design. This is an exceptional opportunity where you will be embedded in the development team on an exciting, unannounced racing title, working in a cross-discipline team to develop game features and for production. Day to day this requires close collaboration with the art and programming teams, surrounded by more experienced designers and participating in daily stand-up meetings.

Here is just some of what you will learn:-

  • Learn to break down work into tasks that can be delivered during sprints.
  • Nurture and develop your design talent toward creating AAA commercial games
  • Agree with senior members of the team on a clear definition of what it means for your work to be considered done to the required quality levels.
  • Learn to provide realistic estimates of how complex tasks are and how long they will take to implement.
  • Work with the other scrum teams to identify dependencies between your work and theirs to avoid any duplication and delays from blocking issues.
  • Produce pro-standard technical designs, documentation and overviews

Here’s what you’ll need:-

  • Formal game design education/background preferable; grad or equiv experience.
  • Taking on responsibility for game Localisation Database initially; no foreign language skills required but high quality spelling, grammar, and attention to detail are a must
  • Familiarity with Office365 suite, Confluence (or other wiki software), and bug tracking software such as JIRA preferable
  • Interest in motorsport, driving games, or sports games beneficial but not essential

This is a truly amazing opportunity to work with a highly motivated and team-focused group of designers; where collaborating and helping one another and the wider team take priority over any personal or individual goals. We continue to assemble a diverse and passionate team that is inclusive of (not limited to) gender, age, ethnicity, culture, identification, cognitive spectrum and from all walks of life. We’re interested to know how you can make us even better and particularly welcome applications from those currently under-represented in the game industry.
