Role Overview:

Our flagship title Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is looking for an accomplished 3D Character Artist with experience in game development, specifically in the mobile space. You will report directly to the project's Art Director and work in cooperation with other members of the art team. You will guide the character asset pipeline while maintaining current and latest quality standards on our Star Wars title. We are looking for that magical combination of artistry and production know-how that a character artist like you bring to the table.

As a Character Artist, you will:

  • Model, UV and texture characters, weapons and ships, all within the Star Wars universe.
  • Achieve mobile realistic likeness to well-known characters and creatures.
  • Use discipline knowledge in the creation of optimized and performant assets.
  • Support the development and integration of our existing character pipeline.
  • Provide reference and feedback to external partners as part of our OS production pipeline.
  • Collaborate with our technical rigger in the skinning of in-game characters.
  • Create character prefabs within the Unity game engine.
  • Demonstrate peer communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Participate in build reviews, address bugs, and guide art quality through a balance of visual improvements and performance constraints.
  • Prepare visual documents that capture asset progress for reviews with our brand partners at Lucasfilm.

Requirements & Skills:

  • 4+ years of production experience as a character artist; mobile development experience a major plus.
  • Experience working within the Unity game engine.
  • Expertise working with modeling and texturing programs such as Maya/3DS Max, Photoshop, and 3dCoat.
  • Ability to work from reference materials such as photography or concept art.
  • Familiarity with version control and asset management software (Perforce).
  • Experience working in character art pipelines.
