POSITION/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Communication, English and Foreign Languages at Cameron University invites applications for a Digital Media Manager and eSports Coach beginning in Fall 2019. Primary responsibilities include supervising, scheduling and maintaining television studio, audio production labs and editing suites and serving as the head coach for CUs emergent esports team, The Pickaxes. Assignments include overseeing repairs, purchasing equipment, checking out equipment to students; maintaining and updating all field production equipment; keeping studio and esports game facilities updated, insuring that all equipment is compatible with computer based technology and audio/video delivery systems; supervise up to five student productions per week; supervise student workers; provide oversight of Journalism and Media Production computer labs and manage content for AggieCentral (aggiecentral.com).

Coaching duties include recruitment and support of a competitive varsity esports team of up to 12 students, maintenance of the university’s gaming facilities and public relations work related to the esports team. Must be available to answer student questions and assist with student project problems. Must be able to operate under deadline and be capable of working with others. Candidates with a graduate degree may teach a production- or gaming-specific course in the department.

This is a 12-month staff position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; experience and knowledge in lighting, audio video techniques, video switchers, audio consoles, graphics generators, non-linear editing and studio operations; player-level knowledge of digital videogames, both PC and console-based, with the ability to learn new games utilizing standard game controllers and mouse-keyboard playstyles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree from an accredited university in media, digital media production, educational technology, game design or any related field. Professional production experience in audio-video enterprises, including television news. Demonstrated excellence in television/radio studio management and video production. Demonstrable experience in competitive gaming, specifically in the Battle.net cadre, to include Overwatch, Hearthstone, Starcraft II and World of Warcraft arenas and mythics plus. Competitive knowledge of League of Legends and battle royale games (Fortnite, Apex Legends, etc…) desirable.

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience.
