Bungie is looking for a Narrative Director to focus on leading our narrative efforts for an exciting unannounced project. The successful candidate has experience leading narrative teams through production to ship and beyond as a live service game. As Narrative Director, you will partner with the Game Director, Global Franchise Director and Narrative Lead on the major Narrative beats and moments that will continue to push the franchise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Envision and create compelling new concepts that drive the IP’s narrative to launch

  • Define and explore thematic hooks and settings for products within the IP’s universe

  • Design and uphold the framework for the project through project-specific world-building documentation

  • Forecast the project’s long range narrative roadmap and plan for a live service game while partnering with production to ensure deliverables are met

  • Ideate and conceptualize narrative content that speaks to a broad array of audiences

  • Drive collaboration with adjacent creative disciplines (Art, Design, Audio) and overcome creative challenges while simultaneously meeting business objectives

  • Shape the IP and build its identity for current and future products

  • Govern, manage, and protect all the characters in the IP

  • Generates ideas on new ways of utilizing new media within our products

  • Accountable for project outsourcing and external development with partner studios

  • Responsible for annual operating plan deliverables and projections

  • Manage a narrative team and ensure performance review cycles and proper feedback is given to foster career growth

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience in Narrative development within game, film, publishing, and/or other IP management

  • Experience working with external partners to meet publishing needs

  • Master of grammar, punctuation, and spelling

  • Ability to identify and resolve conflicts with members of various disciplines and external partners in a clear and efficient manner

  • High degree of emotional intelligence, great interpersonal skills, and empathy for creative teams

  • Ability to clearly communicate information and provide feedback that encourages growth and change when necessary

  • Organization and attention to detail: ability recognize both small and large details with a high level of accuracy to maintain consistency in the style and tone of the product

  • Passion, understanding, and enthusiasm for creative worlds

Listed below is this role's base pay range. In other locations that Bungie has approved for remote work, this pay range may be adjusted up to +/- 10% and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly). This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Washington State Pay Range

$196,000—$228,000 USD

Bungie employees in the U.S. also receive:

  • 20 days of accrued time-off in the form of PTO and sabbatical days, depending on the level of the position

  • 10 paid Floating Days annually, prorated in the first year of employment based on start date

  • 10 paid Bungie-observed holidays annually

  • One hour of Paid Sick Time (PST) for every 30 hours worked
