We are looking for a Lead 3D Artist, reporting to the Producer, the Lead 3D Artist will help us build amazing characters, props, and environments for ours mobile apps. The Lead 3D Artist will work with the core team to help drive the vision and esthetic forward. We favor diversity, creativity, drive and team spirit. Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a high level of fidelity in terms of environment and character modeling, texturing quality, and optimization;
  • Problem solve any technical limitations and issues using creative and resource-efficient solutions;
  • Work with the Producer to breakdown, estimate, prioritize art asset production;
  • Monitor weekly team sprint objectives to raise flags and help resolve them;
  • Be responsible for meeting project deadlines, setting milestones, and managing the team’s weekly tasks and goals;
  • Work with the Artists on the team to execute and maintain the art and animation by validating in progress sprint tasks;
  • Share knowledge and experience with the team and be part of driving a positive work environment;
  • Set up an efficient, empower and autonomous artistic team;
  • Work closely with the Creative VP to establish a project’s visual style;
  • Collaborate with Product Manager to ensure a maximal artistic development vs the targeted audience and the game economy;
  • Collaborate with the technical director to develop art integration strategies;
  • Work alongside the Game Designer to ensure the art properly executes the design intentions;
  • Collaborate with the tech team on tools and techniques for Artists;
  • Train and onboard new art team members;
  • Participate actively in the development of best practices, establish training guidelines on an ongoing basis for the Artists in the studio;

To perform this role efficiently you will need:

  • To have a passion for games and a good understanding of what makes a game visually appealing and fun to play;
  • To be able to build good working relationships with the art team and other departments;
  • To be able to lead by example and be an outstanding ambassador of the studio and project management;
  • To be able to manage stress and changes and to communicate those changes effectively;
  • To be able to communicate clearly with senior managers, designers, programmers, testers and other personnel in their own language;
  • To have excellent communication skills, including tact and diplomacy;
  • To have strong knowledge of 3d modelling environment and characters and 3d animation and enough knowledge in 2D illustration and 2D animation;
  • To understand the technology used in gaming and development, the capabilities and the limits;
  • To possess conflict resolution and problem-solving skills;
  • To have excellent technical knowledge of all the tools / software used to produce all the art assets and animation;
  • To have excellent knowledge of the art production pipeline specifically with regards to the artistic and technical aspects;
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in mobile video game industry development as a Lead 3D Artist;
  • Experience in mobile game development is an asset.
