The World of Warcraft team is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Classic Team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to have an impact on a variety of different game development areas including UI, server, data conversion, and Gameplay. You will partner closely with our design team to implement new features as well as iterate on existing systems. The ideal candidate enjoys working on a highly collaborative and autonomous team.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

What you will do…

  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to build and improve gameplay systems

  • Identify and resolve issues and discover opportunities for improvement

  • Participate in and contribute to a culture of inclusion and diversity

To succeed, you must have…

  • Fluency in C++ or C#

  • Experience in a software engineering role or equivalent

  • Self-motivation and willingness to participate in many areas of game development

  • Excellent teamwork and communications skills

We’re also interested in hearing about…

  • Experience with owning and driving the development of a technical feature from start to finish

  • Understanding of client/server architecture

  • Experience coaching or mentoring fellow engineers

  • Familiarity with code and memory optimization in real time applications

  • Experience with database development (MySQL, Oracle)

  • Knowledge of Lua or other scripting languages

  • Your experience and interest playing or crafting video games

  • Knowledge of World of Warcraft or other MMORPGs

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $101,000.00 - $186,754.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
