We are seeking a Lead Engineer, Gameplay AI Creature. You are either someone who already has experience as a Lead and Manager or someone who is interested in growing into this position. You will be leading a small team with a focus on creating the many, varied inhabitants of our world, and you will report to our Lead AI programmer. You need to understand how to create compelling creatures, present players with exciting challenges, and bring our world to life. You will be collaborating with our dedicated designers and animators to make their visions come alive. You will also be helping to plan and lead our development and most importantly helping our engineers grow and achieve their best!

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Albany, NY, or Irvine, CA.

What you are good at
8+ years of experience, or equivalent education/work experience
Experience crafting AI behaviors for a AAA game.
An interest in leadership (no prior experience required).
Strong C++ skills
Communicating ideas clearly, learning from others, and giving meaningful feedback
Math, with proficiency in linear algebra, trigonometry, and 3D vector manipulation
Experience in collaborating with content creators (designers & artists).
Actively and enthusiastically seeking out help, advice, and reviews
Extra awesome points for
Shipped AAA game titles or equivalent product development experience
Familiarity with visual scripting languages (such as UE Blueprint)

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $101,000.00 - $186,754.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
