Your Daily Life at Bethesda Game Studios

As Lead Multiplayer Systems Programmer, you will…

  • Evaluate product proposals, identifying and mitigating risks, and leading the technical implementation of new features in the game.

  • Monitor and resolve problems with the health of the production environment, implementingnetwork improvements on the client and server, taking ownership of game persistence systems and managing player data integrity across the service.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and perspective to their staff to help ensure that their teams will be a technical success through informed estimates and a managed scope.

  • Partner with production to help set targets for the schedule as well as assist with task assignment when needed.

  • Manage a team of approximately 2-3 multiplayer systems programmers and participate in annual reviews.


What Makes You S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

  • You have a B.Sc. in Computer Science and/or Mathematics.

  • You have prior development experience in the games industry.

  • You are proficient with C++ and network systems.

  • Management skills, including capacity to provide feedback to and help direct the multiplayer systems programmers.

  • Experience with persistence systems, performance analysis and optimization.

  • Experience with Linux and GDB debugging is an asset.

  • You have development experience on game consoles (Xbox360/PS3/Xbox One/PS4).

  • You possess strong organizational skills, communication skills, and the ability to communicate and work with non-engineers.

  • You work well under pressure and can handle multiple tasks.

  • You have a passion for making GREAT games.

  • You have experience playing Bethesda Game Studios games.

Salary Range

Lead Mulitplayer Systems Programmer - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $125,000 - $240,000 per year.

ZeniMax has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
