Ascendant Studios is looking for a senior-level tech art generalist capable of focusing on Tools and Pipelines. Our ideal candidate will have prior experience working in technical art on AAA games.
This position can be remote or in-person. Our new office, set in an old bank (yes, we kept the vault, aka our game room), has just opened after a 2 year renovation, steps away from shops, restaurants, and San Rafaelβs vibrant downtown.
Founded by industry veterans, Ascendant Studios is a fully independent AAA game studio committed to making richly detailed, visceral, narrative-driven action games of the highest quality that players will never forget. We are currently working on our first title, an imaginative and original new IP, which we have complete ownership and creative control of.
Key Responsibilities
Build tools and automate processes to reduce repetitive work and improve content creation throughput
Build and expand on our extensive procedural Houdini toolset
Create and maintain tooling for enforcing best practices (LODs, Textures, etc...)
Working with other tech artists, designers, artists that require short term help with any unreal related system
Help to improve, maintain, or replace python related tools
Prototype new unreal techniques for artists, designers and engineers as needed
Requirements
Intimate knowledge of Unreal 4/5
Strong understanding of Editor Utilities/Editor Utility Widgets, Sequencer, Animation pipelines, Blueprint communication
Expertise in Houdini, HDA's, VEX and VOP, building and modifying procedural elements, UVs, LODs, simulation, VAT
Familiarity with Houdini Engine for Unreal (v2) Side FX Labs
Proficient in Python
Affinity for Unreal performance tools and automation
Passion for making and playing video games.
Good time management skills and excels at working within deadlines independently
Excellent communication skills.
Thrives in a creative and collaborative team environment.
