Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in sales, marketing, and business development specific to the gaming industry
  • 10+ years of experience in the Game industry, or building and selling solutions to firms in the game industry
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure to support game servers, analytics and big data, and game live operations.

As Head of Wordwide New Customer Acquisition on the Game Tech Business Development team, you will be responsible for building and executing AWS’s strategy to acquire new enterprise games customers around the world. In this position you will work closely with our field sales teams and your worldwide industry specialist colleagues to understand the changing global market, identify the important value propositions that differentiate cloud providers for large game developers, initiate new programs to address customer requirements, and build the go-to-market messages and materials to assist our teams in winning new customers across all regions around the world.

The right candidate will have deep industry and functional experience working extensively and successfully with complex enterprise game developers, full understanding of the evolving competitive landscape, and be able to shape AWS' go-to-market capabilities to meet the requirements of complex customer segment. This person will have a deep understanding of the evaluation criteria and the decision making processes within the games industry, global go-to-market experience, success in leading and driving complex programs to meet business objectives, a customer-obsessed and collaborative approach, strong data and metrics bias, and a passion for helping large organizations evolve and grow. They will have experience and knowledge of sales, marketing, product development, game back-end infrastructure, and live operation processes used by game developers and publishers.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing the AWS Top-150 new customer acquisition and overall go-to-market strategy working with cross functional games teams to implement and execute on this plan.
  • Establish technical credibility and drive discussions with C-level and key influencers from both customer and partners within the game industry.
  • Work with cross functional teams to deploy – pilot and scale – Game industry-focused programs in the field working with sales enablement, regional business development teams, and account teams.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders, including sales, marketing, product management, product development, key industry ISVs and SIs, and other influencers within the games developer ecosystem.
  • Discover, capture and report learnings from the field about customer engagements and AWS challenges and opportunities as they relate to the AWS games platform and our new customer acquisition toolkit.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop and align digital marketing campaigns to drive awareness around the key evaluation criteria in the large enterprise sector of the worldwide games industry.
  • Conduct customer briefings, present at customer events, further AWS solutions-led thought leadership in the industry domains.
  • Prepare and deliver regular business reviews to AWS senior management team regarding progress and metrics reporting relative to our ongoing execution.
  • A passion for games and games developers.
  • The right person will be highly technical and analytical, and will be capable of understanding the complexities of game development processes across multiple platforms including mobile, PC, and console
  • Deep understanding of the global top-150 (enterprise) game developer customer segment
  • Great understanding of how the games industry operates and the unique characteristics and culture of the industry.
  • Passion for cloud technologies – deep understanding of public and hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Technical knowledge of games industry applications, platforms, and data ecosystem, with ability to go deep on technical aspects to understand current and future customer needs and present AWS technical benefits.
  • Experience developing, implementing, managing and executing cross-functional industry solutions-led go-to-market growth programs and sales motions.
  • Excellent business and financial acumen and negotiations skills.
  • Operational excellence mind-set and experience. Data driven. Excellent problem-solving skills. Adept at simplifying complexity and developing scalable propositions.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results. Ability to effectively lead and work with a variety of organizations, management levels, cultures, and personalities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills. Experience communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple teams.
  • Relevant technical knowledge is helpful, such as: Game development platforms (Unity, Unreal, etc), core distributed computing concepts, fundamentals of cloud computing and virtualization, platform variation (mobile, PC, Console), software defined networking, network functions virtualization, etc. with ability to go deep enough on relevant technologies key to the industry.
  • Education- an MBA is desired; technical background with Computer Science, and/or Engineering/Math background is highly desired; working knowledge of software development practices and data center / infrastructure / networking technologies highly desired.
  • Deep knowledge of the AWS Services and their relevance to the gaming industry

This position must be located at one of our U.S. AWS Corp. offices with a preference for San Francisco, CA.
