Do you want to help us build the best video application on leading platforms such as Android TV, Apple's tvOS, PlayStation and XBox? Are you interested in working on a variety of devices and platforms, taking end-to-end responsibility for delighting our customers? Would you like to work with Google, Apple, Microsoft, and other partners? If so, Prime Video Ports is for you.

The Prime Video Ports team owns the Prime Video application on high-profile platforms with millions of customers, so the work you do has a direct impact on our customers around the world. We work with a variety of platforms and tech stacks and take end-to-end ownership for delivering great customer experiences. We work with teams across Amazon and with our partners to deliver our software, giving the team high visibility.

Our roadmap includes big tech bets such as rebuilding the entire app for several platforms; launching new devices such as PlayStation 5; building features to drive engagement, such as recommendations; and iterating fast to improve the customer experience.

As a new team we're growing fast and there are lots of opportunities for learning, growth, and career progression, such as working with other teams to set architecture and strategy for rime Video across the Living Room for millions of customers globally.

The role is based in London, UK, and since we work with partners around the world, there's plenty of opportunity to travel to meet partners in US, Asia and Europe - including attending conferences such as Google I/O and Apple's WWDC, as well as many Amazon events.

You will join a new team that is growing fast, with opportunities to make a major impact on the Prime Video customer experience. You will work on a mix of languages, platforms and technologies spanning app development, embedded software, video playback, and integration with backend services. This is a great chance to learn new skills, as we don't expect people to know it all already. The team supports each other to share skills and knowledge of the various platforms, with individuals encouraged to develop expertise in their areas of interest. Every other Friday, the team has a "Learn & Be Curious day" where you have the chance to work on your own project to stretch your skills and expand your knowledge.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of significant technical projects by both achieving results through other SDE’s as well as writing critical-path code yourself. In collaboration with the Software Development Manager on the team, you will influence your team’s technical and business strategy by making insightful contributions to team priorities and approach, take the lead in identifying and solving ambiguous technical problems, architecture deficiencies, or areas where your team’s software bottlenecks the innovation of other teams. To achieve results through others, you will demonstrate technical influence over 1-2 teams, either via a collaborative software effort or by increasing their productivity and effectiveness by driving software engineering best practices. You’ll also lead design reviews for your team, actively participate in design reviews across the org, provide insightful code reviews and actively mentor other engineers.

  • MS Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with embedded computing platforms such as games consoles, mobile phones, set-top boxes and Smart TV’s
  • Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
