ABOUT THE COMPANY:

YOUR ROLE:

As a Level Designer, you are familiar with UE4 / Unity and know how to work with the tools the engine provides.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conceptualizing levels for the game (on paper or using any 2D editors)
  • Grey boxing level designs in game engines
  • The creation of levels and placement of gameplay entities
  • Planning and implementing environmental conditions and gameplay scenarios
  • Mission Design and side missions (that go hand in hand with the overarching narrative)
  • The creation of basic scripts (e.g. Door opens, something moving from A/B)
  • The creation of cutscenes within the game
  • Work in close collaboration with creative and tech teams from start to finish

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to wear multiple hats in the design team, especially help out as game designer when required
  • Work with the design team on game pitches and presentations

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE ALSO HAS ONE MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Strong fundamentals in gameplay, systems and mechanics
  • Ability to work on world-building and lore around the levels and scenarios
  • Narrative Design, create characters on a narrative level. Create a story structure, synopsis and dialogues.
  • Knowledge of how rendering in an engine works (what are draw calls, texture memory, etc.) for optimization
  • Artistic skill set and a decent knowledge of colour and lighting
  • Level art skillsets to work on the final look and feel
  • Knowledge in 3D modelling and open to learning new software as part of the job
  • Motivation to learn German.

YOU HAVE:

  • 2+ years of experience on Level Design
  • Gaming is a passion
  • Love analyzing games and learning from them
  • Knowledge of how to concept and build game levels to achieve the best results
  • A constant drive to improve quality
  • Familiarity with Photoshop or any other 2D graphics editors
  • Familiarity with scripting languages
  • Hands-on experience with game engines like Unreal or Unity

YOU ARE:

  • Self-motivated, self-directed and reliable
  • Understands the importance of iterations in the design process
  • Experienced with efficient workflows, tools & development processes
  • Eager to learn/research multiple new tools and come up with creative solutions.
  • Able to gather, analyze, and act on feedback from the team, open to critique.
  • Confident with English communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Happy to work in our team in Munich (Germany).
