Title: QA Art

Level: Middle

We are extensively growing our Global Art Team

1518 studios are now on the hunt for several talented and professional 3D Artists to join our Global Art Team. As an 3D Art Tester, you will work within our Localisation Quality Assurance Team, performing quality checks on 3D assets to make them ready for use.

This position entails a great deal of responsibility and opportunity to drive further the development of your artistic, technical, and creative expertise and will accept applications from artists that specialise in either of the following steps/stages in the pipeline:

ADP - Auto Decimation Pipeline

You will perform Quality Control Tests on assets after they have gone through our Auto Decimation Pipeline. Calling out and occasionally doing manual fixes. You have both excellent modelling and texturing skills.

You will be familiar with the entire game asset creation pipeline: high-poly sculpting, retopology, UV mapping, texture baking, texture painting, setting up and exporting.

Software: 3DS Max + Vray, Maya and Substance. Blender is a plus.

Clean Up and Decimation

You will perform QC Tests on scanned assets provided by the Photogrammetry Capture Team and the cleanup/decimated models from other Outsource Teams.

This artist will also ensure that all scans and references are up to standards before the next production stage starts.

Software: Zbrush, Maya/3Ds Max.

Modeling
You excel at converting high-poly assets into low-poly assets, knowing the importance of clean edge loops, and various Snap-specs for web AR and Snap AR.

If needed, you will be also performing Modelling Quality Control Tests, for which you'll have a solid understanding on asset optimisation.

Software: Maya & 3D Max.

UV & Texture

Performing UVs QC . You'll be specialised in the following processes: Topology, UVs, Seam Placement, and UV shells effect in texturing.

You'll perform Quality Control tests during the texturing phase, for which you'll be thoroughly skilled with materials, textures and optimizing exported texture files.

Software: Maya/Max & Substance/Photoshop.

Export/Staging

You will need to have strong skills in GLBs, optimizing file size, model/scene clean-up, exporting assets from each vertical in snap-spec.

You'll be fully responsible for the Export QC, when needed.

Software: Maya/3Ds Max

Internal Tool - 3D and Textures Real Time Integration

Learning how to use the internal tool developed by the client; this software will import a given 3D model and/or texture and will let you previsualize it in Real Time. We are consistently improving the tool, so you'll need to adapt quickly to changes and learn your way around the new updates.

Once you've familiarised with the it, you'll help QC the software's files. You'll need to have a basic understanding of the 3D pipeline with emphasis in 3D Modelling and Textures.

Axis QA

You will be performing QC Tests on assets in the Axis platform to ensure that the final asset matches the hero image for each product.

A basic understanding of 3D language is relevant. You will have a solid understanding of the art fundamentals. A strong grasp of proportion, silhouette, anatomy, lighting, colour and volume is key.

We are ideally looking for middle artists that have at least around 3+ years of commercial experience in video games production, where at least 2 of them is in Art QA.

  • Preparing asset specifications: world systems, models, scene assets
  • Working with drafts and technical documentation
  • Gathering expertise from developers regarding content work and art assets
  • Developing and integrating art content quality control flow
  • Spotting issues, writing reports to the client.

  • Experience working with videogame art content
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Good understanding of creative briefs, able to consider elements such as context, timescales and creative constraints when solving tasks.
  • Great attention to detail. Being able to notice well-hidden details and nuances
  • Able to briefly and precisely describe an issue and formulate feedback
  • Hands on attitude, you are a responsible and diligent individual
  • Excellent collaborative attitude. A receptive individual who's open to taking feedback and working together with teammates and clients.
  • Excellent time management skills, able to meet deadlines and multitask.
  • Exceptional technical skills, solid knowledge of 3D software (Max, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, Substance and Marmoset).

Bonus points if you...

  • Understand game engine principles and content systems within.
  • Understand the basics of physics and mechanics.
  • Familiarity with the entire game asset creation pipeline.
  • Have the ability to quickly adapt and learn new skills and use new software
