Archetype Entertainment is a new game studio in Austin, Texas led by industry veterans from BioWare and other AAA studios. Archetype is a division of Wizards of the Coast (Hasbro). We are building a development team with world-class talent to create a new science fiction universe for our first multiplatform roleplaying video game.

Archetype Entertainment seeks an experienced developer with a strong technical animation skillset and experience.

We’re looking for an exceptionally skilled lead technical animator to join an unannounced project. Candidates should have extensive knowledge to lead, build and supervise cutting-edge modeling and animation tools for body, cloth, face and mechanical models. This role requires a strong sense of design, excellent cross team communications with art and engineering, as well as the ability to execute the highest-quality art.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the creation of top-quality character-related rigs, toolsets and pipeline scripts to set the quality bar for our project, and manage the tech animation team
  • Assist with Tech Art and Engineering in planning and implementing our art pipeline
  • Work closely with animation and character leads to deliver the best animation tech support
  • Assist in planning asset production in collaboration with the concept and design teams

What You Bring

  • Self-motivation, good communication skills, and a great team-player attitude
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in game development as a tech animator specializing in organic forms as well as hard surface rigging using Maya and other relevant software
  • An exceptional understanding of character anatomy and prop work efficiency
  • Intimate understanding of next generation asset creation pipelines and tools
  • Experience working as a lead in developing a unique and cohesive animation tool sets, rigs for both organic and hard surface assets
  • Exceptional understanding physique, facial FACs
  • Superior eye for shade and deformation detail when weighting joints
  • Able to contribute to, interpret, and clearly communicate with animators and artists
  • Able to effectively collaborate with game designers and programmers
  • Proven problem-solving and prototyping ability
  • Strong management capabilities with a large or small technical animator team.
  • Able to rally and drive tasks and team members effectively
  • A passion for story-driven roleplaying games
