We're VOID Interactive, the kickass team behind the best-selling FPS game, Ready or Not. We're made up of some seriously talented individuals who love games and creating awesome content together. We're seeking someone who's just as passionate about gaming as we are and who's ready to join forces with us to help take our character art to the next level.
As a Lead Character Artist, your task is to sculpt characters brimming with personality, making a resounding impact within our game and the community. Our goal is strong: to establish Ready or Not as the quintessential FPS of our time
Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Collaborating closely with the art and design teams to conceive character concepts that align harmoniously with the game's artistic vision and narrative.
- Creating high-quality character models, textures, and materials, employing industry-standard software and tools to achieve excellence.
- Sculpting and refining 3D character models, ensuring they meet the precise specifications and requirements of the project.
- Optimizing current character assets for optimal performance without compromising on visual quality.
- Cooperating with animators to ensure seamless rigging and skinning of character models, resulting in smooth and lifelike animations.
- Working closely with technical artists and engineers to proficiently implement and optimize character assets within the game engine.
- Constantly exploring and integrating new techniques and tools to enhance the efficiency and quality of character creation workflows.
- Providing valuable contributions to art reviews and offering constructive feedback to elevate the overall quality of character assets.
- Keeping ahead of industry trends and advancements in character creation techniques, and sharing this knowledge with the team.
Here's what we'd like to see from you:
- 5+ years of experience with a strong portfolio showcasing your proficiency in character art, including impressive 3D character models and textures.
- Experience working on 2+ AAA titles strongly preferred.
- Leadership skills, involving guiding a team, making decisions, and working closely with outsource studios to ensure quality assets are delivered on time and are up to standard.
- Skilled at setting up and managing workflows and processes using the Jira platform.
- A solid understanding of human anatomy, proportions, and form, enabling you to create both realistic and stylized characters.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as ZBrush, Maya, 3ds Max, Substance Painter, or equivalent.
- Prior experience in creating and optimizing character assets for the Unreal Engine.
- Knowledge of PBR workflows, texture mapping, and UV unwrapping.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to work within technical constraints and project requirements.
- A genuine passion for video games and an exceptional eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and time management skills to ensure smooth coordination within the team.
