The Documentation team at Unity is growing! Are you an experienced writer who can teach us a thing or two? Maybe you're a developer with a who enjoys writing, and wants a new challenge. We’re seeking a technical writer to join us on our mission to deliver great docs to our users!

As part of the Authoring Tools and Technology documentation team, you'll plan, create, and maintain documentation for features that empower creators to realize their vision by providing an intuitive, efficient and powerful authoring experience.

There’s no set path to becoming a good technical writer. We’re less concerned about specific qualifications or experience. If you have the right skills, we can teach you anything else you need to know. And if you bring new skills and experience, we want to learn from you too.

What you’ll do

  • Write scripting API documentation and user manual content to simplify, explain, and help users get the most from Unity products.
  • Revise drafts supplied by developers, and overhaul legacy content.
  • Deliver high-quality technical content within a fast-paced release schedule.
  • Use templates, standards and our in-house style guide (based on the Microsoft Writing Style Guide) to build clear, reusable content.
  • Champion the role and importance of documentation.

What we’re looking for

  • Outstanding written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency with technology.
  • Experience writing and publishing user-facing technical content.

You might also have

  • Passion for games, technology, and/or writing.
  • Game development experience, especially using Unity or C#.
  • Experience producing documentation using HTML/CSS, Markdown or XML.
  • Understanding of source control tools (e.g. github, Mercurial) and techniques.
  • Experience using issue trackers such as JIRA.
