Role description

Unity develops awesome tools for real time 3D content creators.

We are looking for a very Senior Engineer for the Plastic SCM Core team, inside the Unity Teams Tools and Services group. You will join a team passionate about creating the next-generation version control and CI/CD solutions for real-time 3D.

This means crafting outstanding tools for the wide variety of roles involved in creating 3D content that ranges from programmers, artists and producers in games, to film makers, engineers, architects and beyond.

You will contribute to the very version control core of Plastic SCM and this includes high performance client-side code, merge algorithms, cloud code, storage, networking and even more. You’ll be really designing the future of version control with an incredible impact on how developers like you work. Is there anything more exciting than this?

What you will be doing

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain high performance server, client-side and even cloud code. This means storage, dealing with different operating systems, network, algorithms and more. You’ll never get bored
  • Operate within a distributed team, collaborating with colleagues in different locations
  • Work very closely with UX designers, product managers and with backend developers to design good APIs
  • Offer mentorship, code reviews, and clear documentation for fellow engineers

What we’re looking for

  • Proven programming skills
  • Professional experience working with C# (C/C++ and Java also welcome, although most of our code C#)
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full development life cycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, operations, etc.)
  • Some experience mentoring engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective
  • Good debugging and optimization skills (you’re familiar with profilers, finding memory leaks and greatly optimizing code)

You might also have

  • A great curiosity for how the .NET framework works (GC, Span<T>, optimizations)
  • Confirmed DevOps and version control experience (Git, Plastic SCM, Perforce)
