Job Title: Lead VFX Artist

**Note**: Final Designation/Level will be decided based on the relevant experience and interview ratings.

Position Objectives:

Take charge of VFX production and VFX visual direction, develop VFX team within a collaborative multi-discipline environment; working with Production and visual development teams, define and track the schedule for the team, manage and mentor team members, and be a key-player in delivering.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating stunning visuals effects for the FPS genre using proprietary engine and real time particle systems.
  • Develop strong VFX visual guideline for team in collaboration with Art director.
  • Identify and set up best practices, workflows, and pipelines for the VFX team.
  • Be the main contact for a collaborating studio or outsource partner regarding the VFX development.
  • Work collaboratively with other directors and Team Leads to create FX which match the quality bar and vision for the game.
  • Ability to communicate prototypes and idea through presentation and documents.
  • Help influence further development of internal technologies and artistic capabilities to reach the visual benchmarks.
  • Serve as an active participant in team art discussions, critiques, and reviews.
  • Create optimized visual effects for real time rendering within a PBR environment.
  • Ensure that VFX assets are built efficiently and perform within budgets.
  • Optimizing work and maintaining balance between quality and performance in-game.
  • Create certain light and camera/lens effects.
  • Strong eye for lighting details, and the capability to use them in crafting top notch visual effects that support gameplay and cinematography
  • Share artistic knowledge with Artists, support them when needed.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills, and able to solve problems.
  • Managing VFX team and sharing valuable feedbacks with them on a regular basis for the work/task that they are doing.

Qualifications & Eligibility criteria:

  • Strong technical knowledge and artistic abilities working with sprite type particles and materials within a game engine.
  • Proven industry experience of creating VFX for AAA game.
  • Strong sense of form, color, and composition.
  • Natural tendency to take on a problem and to work with others until the problem is resolved.
  • Experience with creating consistently brilliant, eye-catching real-time FX using Photoshop, 3dsMax, Maya, Houdini and in-game FX systems.
  • Extensive experience with VFX editors and real-time particle systems
  • Knowledge of game editors (e.g., Unreal, Unity etc.)
  • Knowledge of composition software (e.g., After Effects, Nuke, Fusion etc.)
  • Experience working on published AAA games a strong advantage.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Understanding of CGFX and/or HLSL shader languages.
  • Texturing, modeling, skinning, animation, or lighting experience is a plus.
  • Substance Painter & Designer experience.
  • Knowledge of MEL/Python/VEX.
