Job Description

About the Role

As a Game Designer, you will enjoy collaborating with the rest of the development team and are able to keep iterating different ideas, features, testing, and pushing them to reach the final level of quality. Most of all, you understand that great games are based on smooth and engaging core gameplay. We have big ambitions to introduce something groundbreaking in building long-term player engagement. You will get to enjoy the network and resources of Ubisoft while working in an agile studio with creative freedom.

What you will do

  • Implement game mechanics that engage players and drive them towards interesting challenges in the short and long terms.

  • Understand consumer needs and ensure that the team's elements contribute to player satisfaction and enjoyment.

  • Create and maintain clear and concise design documentation.

  • Develop a strong understanding of game engines, leverage strengths, and respect limitations.

  • Design one or several parts of the game systems, controls and interfaces in line with the game design direction

  • Communicate and collaborate on the game systems from conception to release with the entire development team

Qualifications

  • Comfortable with both the conceptual and practical aspects of game design

  • Ability to thrive in a playtest-driven development schedule focused on fast iterations and polish.

  • A true team player that works constructively and collaboratively with others

  • A problem-solver, creative thinking, able to think outside of the box, while being able to understand and respect a creative direction

  • Strong personal motivation and interpersonal skills

  • Highly proficient in both spoken and written English

  • Proven experience in the field of game design, (from AI, to systems, or specific mechanics, 3Cs, etc.)
