What you will do

Be part of an entirely new game development team, that will create fully interactive new worlds from scratch, such as this one. A unique opportunity to contribute to the largest AAA space sim game ever. The only limit is your imagination. Day to day, you will be working closely with the Environment Art team to create realistic, high quality layouts and whiteboxes for the intergalactic video game Star Citizen, a record-shattering crowd-funded video game that combines classic space sim gameplay with amazing visuals.

You're Savvy in:

  • Communicating efficiently with people both verbally and in writing
  • Being highly self-motivated and showing initiative. You are able to stay focused, motivated and effective on all tasks through completion.
  • Showing a positive team-oriented attitude
  • Staying organized, meeting strict deadlines and exhibiting great follow-through throughout the projects
  • Being flexible in a fast-paced and always-changing work environment
  • Showing and sharing a strong passion for gaming and Sci-Fi

You have Accomplished

  • 2+ years of experience as a Level Designer
  • Previous experience in AAA games. You have some experience working on at least 1 large scale, 3D title.
  • Experience with current 3D game engines such as CryEngine
  • Previous experience in building realistic and believable environments
  • Thorough knowledge of the game development process
  • Ability to create design proposals for peer reviews
  • Opening to occasional international travel
  • Knowledge of architectural and spatial design for building believable environments, an asset
  • Experience with working in a multi studio environment, an asset
  • Knowledge of Confluence or other documentation systems, an asset

You're Eager to Take On

  • Creating locations and whiteboxes to produce exceptional, realistic environments for Star Citizen’s universe
  • Designing modular rooms and layouts to be used with procedural tools as well as using said tools to generate layouts for space and surface locations
  • Design whitebox prototypes for modular components and common elements used in locations
  • Creating documentation for locations in cooperation with the Narrative team
  • Working closely with the Environment Art team to ensure a balance between gameplay requirements and visual direction
  • Contributing to design discussions and helping solving design challenges within the game’s setting
  • Implementing location markup, AI and interactive objects to bring our locations to life
  • Participating in occasional international trips as needed
