We are looking for a passionate gaming enthusiast with a charismatic personality and a knack for bringing people together to lead our Community initiatives for the OAM and Toronto Defiant brands. Reporting to the VP, Head of Marketing and based in OverActive Media’s Toronto Office, the Senior Manager, Community Programming will be responsible for servicing and growing an engaged fan-base, determining strategic leadership opportunities within gaming overall for OAM, and better connecting OAM and it’s brands with fans.

The successful candidate should be based in Canada or have valid documentation to work in Canada.

We’re looking for:

A Self-Starter – The successful candidate will work very closely with the VP, Head of Marketing but will also be expected to work autonomously to manage their own projects/time appropriately, in order to meet the fast-paced demands of our business.

A Team Player – Someone who is ready to hit the ground running with a talented and experienced team of marketing professionals, who has the ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism.

A Gaming and Esports Fan – esports knowledge and/or being an avid gamer is required for this role as it will ensure we’re building experiences and community with our core fans in mind first.

Requirements

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL

As the successful candidate will be heavily fan-facing, it’s important that they are friendly, upbeat, optimistic, and service oriented. More specifically, this candidate will:

  • Oversee our community outreach strategy for Toronto Defiant and OAM
  • Build college and university relationships and strategies for the coming years
  • Lead all program planning, execution, promotion, and evaluation
  • Evaluate programs on an ongoing basis in conjunction with on-site staff
  • Measure participation at all outreach activities and prepare/provide update reports related to program effectiveness
  • Be the voice of our core fans within the marketing team at OAM and provide feedback on all areas of opportunity to further build relationships and connect with our fans

While the successful candidate is not required to be an expert in all of these areas, this list is representative of the types of requests that the successful candidate would receive.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Education and Experience

  • University degree or college diploma. Ideally in event marketing, marketing, or sport marketing
  • Demonstrated experience in community outreach

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with program planning, implementation, promoting, and evaluation of community based programs and/or special events
  • Knowledge of lead generation and CRM platforms
  • Strong understanding of how to build community via Discord, Reddit, and Facebook
  • Experience leading a team and seen as a natural leader amongst their peers
  • Ability to work within and manage a budget including pre-planning and post-reporting
  • Able to take direction and show initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working within college or university programming is an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours to attend outreach activities and events; some travel within southern Ontario and up-state New York required
