The role requires a speaker of German at native level with proven ability to translate/proofread from Japanese everything necessary for the localisation of video games, including in-game text and packaging. Responsibilities will also include completion of various video game-related promotional material. The candidate must also be prepared to translate and proofread from English if required.

Primary Responsibilities

• Translation of video game-related material; Proofreading of video game-related material
  
• Lead projects as required; Support the editing team/coordinators/localisation management as required
  
• Collaborate with other languages in order to keep a high level of quality across all languages

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Preferably two years’ experience as professional translator (not necessarily as a video game translator, but gaming experience is desirable). However, candidates with no prior experience may also be considered.
  
• Proficient in MS Office Package, especially Excel
  
• Knowledge of translation memory software is a plus (preferably memoQ)
  
• Good written and oral communication skills in both Japanese and English
  
• German speaker at native level with creative writing style
  
• Knowledge of local culture for language of expertise
  
• Great attention to details; Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with unpredictable schedules
  
• Good team-player

Education

• Degree level education
  
• Japanese Proficiency Test Level 1 or equivalent experience is desirable
