Arcadia is the world's first sports platform that combines Esports with real athletics. Instead of avatars, athletes use their bodies as controllers inside competitive video games in front of live interactive audiences. Arcadia is creating a new category in sports unlike anything athletes or audiences have experienced before: SuperSports

To accomplish this vision, we will need to have strong mastery over the technical aspects of the asset production workflow - and the Technical artist is critical in this role. Whether it be putting in place strategies and tools for efficient production, profiling the games to make sure the resources allocated to rendering stays under budget, or creating in-engine specific materials for optimal performances, the technical artist is always on the lookout to improve processes, game quality and game performance. The ideal candidate is eager to take on this challenge, can thrive in a fast-paced environment, and is self motivated to adapt their skills to the various needs of the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with modelers and programmers to create 3D art and bring it into our platform and games.
  • Provide hands-on support to artists and engineers in regard to asset performance and validation.
  • Develop 3D art pipeline tools and extensions with an eye towards usability and efficiency
  • Solve challenging technical issues in the 3D asset pipeline.
  • Own the master material and texture resolution verticals
  • Collaborate with engineers and testers to diagnose and resolve in-game problems.
  • Review creative processes and identify opportunities for tool improvements.
  • Efficiently communicate progress and hurdles to other team members.
  • Suggest efficient production methods that are in keeping with the initial guidelines and budgets/constraints (game memory/size).
  • Make sure that the elements produced are compatible with our platform and that they are properly integrated and have the intended impact on performance.
  • Establish strong communication between the creative and technical teams.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about games, virtual reality and sports with the following skills:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a digital art content creation pipeline, ideally in the video game industry
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Modeler, SFX Artist in game industry
  • Professional experience as a technical artist/tools programmer.
  • Expert in modeling and art tools (Autodesk Maya, 3DS Max, Blender, Photoshop, Substance suite, etc.)
  • Experience in a full digital art content creation pipeline (high and low-poly modeling, unwrapping, baking, texturing, level art)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good artistic skills (proportion, color, composition)
  • Ability to work with and generate technical documentation
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating in a team environment.

BONUS :

  • Experienced developing custom tools for Digital Content Creation tools (Maya, Max, etc.)
  • Knowledge of high level coding language. (Python, MaxScript, Perl, C#, etc.)
  • Experience with free-roam VR/AR gaming and development
  • Experience with Oculus Quest development
