Are you an insightful leader who can collaboratively take the vision of our Studio Art Director, help build a team of artists and project manage the team's art to create extraordinary visuals for our AAA videogame? Keep reading!

We have ambitious goals for the look of the game and you are someone who can manage, schedule and organize the team to get there.

You are the “how” to the Art Director’s “what”. You are someone who can balance the department budget and schedule needs while growing a balanced team of artists. If we aren’t at quality or on schedule, you regroup with the leads and restrategize the team to get to where we need to be.

Culture and collaboration matters. As a key member of the art team, you are one of the champions of a positive and inclusive culture across the art team in Los Angeles, San Diego and for distributed workers at home. The artists and developers should feel as if they are part of one cohesive and collaborative team, regardless of where they work. Your role is key to that success.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, mentor and support the art leads and artists to achieve both our project goals and the artist's individual growth goals.
  • Work with production management and outsource management teams to synchronize efforts and deliver art to quality, budget and time targets.
  • Work with department lead and production to sequence dependent deliverables to assure the project has a measured and continuous pace.
  • Supervise the hiring of artists by the dept leads to build a balanced team.
  • Steward the department hiring budget and hiring plans for all internal art development at the studio.
  • Work with the Art Director and leads to design and maintain the most optimal organizational chart and work to fill in the gaps with new hires.
  • Help cast artists to tasks, matching their current skills with what is needed on the project and with an eye towards growing talent.
  • Supports documentation of the art pipeline and ensures the leads are onboarding artists in an efficient way.
  • Present performance reports via roll-ups from department leads to executives (eg. Studio Art Director) in and outside of the company on art development.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to build quality art teams and manage them to successful delivery of multiple projects at the highest level.
  • An inclusive verbal and written communicator. Comfortably able to talk with artists, engineers, producers, designers and everyone in between.
  • Extensive Unreal experience as it relates to art pipelines and effort is a big plus.
