LightSpeed LA is seeking a talented and enthusiastic senior tools and pipeline technical artist to join our new AAA studio in sunny Irvine, California. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for games and supporting artists and animators in delivering stunning real time visuals for our players. As a Senior Tools and Pipeline Technical Artist at Lightspeed LA, you will work with the Technical Art, Art, and Animation teams to automate workflows and build systems that streamline art asset creation and organization. This includes building out tools to manage assets from DCC software into the game engine, automate production software tracking and data, and ensuring that assets are optimized. You will support artists and resolve technical issues as they arise during production, and guide on best practices to ensure consistency in process and data-flow between departments and teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Help to build a core pipeline for Art and Animation teams
  • Support Art and Animation teams in production and remove technical roadblocks throughout
  • Automate and optimize inefficient workflows and processes
  • Develop tools and systems across departments and digital content creation software (DCC)
  • Serve as the bridge between Art and Engineering, and collaborate with engineers on technical design and workflow solutions

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a tools and pipeline technical artist in the games industry or similar
  • Experience with Unreal, Unity, or similar 3d game engines
  • Advanced knowledge of Python scripting and related UI frameworks (PyQt / PySide)
  • Expertise in DCC applications like Maya, Houdini, Designer
  • UX / UI experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate between technical and artistic language
  • Experience working in R&D environments

Additional Desired Knowledge:

  • Strong 3D Math skills
  • Experience with C++
  • Experience with production management software such as JIRA, Shotgun, etc
  • Experience with Motion Capture pipelines and workflows
