We are currently looking for a Lead Artist to help shape our growing art department in our new Manchester studio located in Media City!
As a Lead Artist, you will be dedicated to balancing creative vision with production, design and code to produce high quality assets. This is a key role to help shape our growing Manchester studio.
As part of team17, you will play a vital part in producing high quality art assets in game as well as inspiring and motivating the art team.
Responsibilities
- Participate in project scheduling and maintain planning foresight.
- Maintain the flow of information to the team that align with the project objectives.
- Provide regular review and feedback on teams work in a clear and constructive manner.
- Able to drive change and inspire others to generate new ideas.
- Maintain efficient collaboration between the team members and other dependent teams.
- Maintain a close working relationship with your heads of art department, producers, leads, and other teams to push project quality.
- Actively participate to help make improvements to work methods and pipelines.
- Share knowledge and recommend best practices in your area of operation.
- Ensure that assets respect the artistic vision of the game and meet the quality standards.
- Define and execute specific aspects of the wider department’s strategy which relate to your own project.
- Champion and encourage creative, original and inventive thinking within the team.
- Expected to solve complex problems on assigned projects.
- Recognise and seek to understand different people’s perspectives to reach a suitable compromise or solution for the good of the project.
Requirements
- Strong artistic skills.
- Experience in team leadership and management.
- Easily able to translate concept and reference artwork into high quality game art.
- Expert knowledge of the video game development process and production pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork oriented attitude.
- A passion for video games, art and commitment to personal development.
- A creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Enthusiastic team player with a can-do attitude.
- Expert knowledge of 3D software such as Maya or 3D Studio Max.
- Expert knowledge of Photoshop or Substance Painter.
- Experience of working and implementing artwork to a game engine such as Unreal or Unity.
