The Associate Marketing Manager supports and contributes to developing, planning and executing product marketing plans which structure the strategic release of multiple video game titles. This role reports into a Marketing Manager.

As an Associate Marketing Manager, you are responsible for executing thoughtful marketing strategies, rolling out tailored campaign plans and leading day-to-day execution among cross-functional teams to drive success. You will focus on all stages of the consumer lifecycle. The ideal candidate is collaborative, enthusiastic, eager to learn, and highly organized, able to work with external agencies and internal teams to ensure timely execution among several projects within a high-paced deadline-driven environment. Daily, you will communicate and engage with game producers and developers in Japan to influence and gain alignment on Japanese-developed games and creative execution for the North American market. The AMM is the executional point of contact to external partners and vendors, ensuring timely communications and execution of joint objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and execute product marketing campaigns through their entire lifecycle from early design phase through post-launch, contributing to the P&L and brand plan.
  • Work closely with Senior Marketing Manager on brand development and management. Support in defining product features and direction, establishing long-term goals and tracking brand metrics for success.
  • Maintain and track marketing budgets with Senior Marketing Manager, including budget reconciliation, PO processing and invoice tracking on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Provide and manage multiple deliverables in a timely manner to support marketing plans, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a fully integrated product launch and continued support.
  • Work closely with development teams on product positioning, features, enhancements, and timelines—utilizing market research and other analysis to aid in the development of existing brands and new products.
  • Plan and develop marketing communications, creative briefs, advertising, promotional and PR programs to drive product sales. This responsibility will include consulting with management and other Square Enix subsidiaries and working directly with outside agencies in strategic planning, creative execution and media planning.
  • Lead daily execution of creative direction to implement packaging, point of purchase and sales collateral design and production while working with outside vendors and internal creative services.
  • Assist in conducting market research and data analysis to define product positioning, as well as monitor competitive activity, marketing campaign metrics, and identify consumer needs, including post-mortems on releases.
  • Manage vendor/developer relationships including communication, working with Legal and Business Development on licensing, acquiring approvals, and relationship development.
  • Ability to analyze varieties of data, identifying marketing trends, and apply data to produce fact-driven recommendations.
  • Ability to design and build supporting presentation and discussion materials to drive business needs, utilizing both Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree with business and/or marketing focus a plus.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years in marketing or related field (Experience at a major video game publisher or entertainment company a plus, although not required).
  • Must have provided direct support to and execution of marketing campaign(s), including strong process planning, asset delivery, leadership of internal teams and collaboration with external vendors.
  • Must have experience working with marketing budgets and strong ability to track, maintain and support all initiatives funneling into total budget. Experience with P&L management a plus, but not required.
  • Vendor/agency management experience a plus, particularly pertaining to the launch of new products.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with privileged information, and work well with others within a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment which includes both North American functional counterparts and offshore-based production and marketing personnel.
  • Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills required. Must be articulate and professional.
  • Exposure to both US and international marketplaces a plus, but not required.
  • Flexibility with working hours is a plus due to time zone differences with key contacts.

  • Critical thinking skills and strong business acumen with ability to quickly learn and apply learnings to daily decision making and execution.
  • Capable storytelling with proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Japanese language skills and experience working with Japanese corporations (not required, but a plus).
  • Playing experience and in-depth knowledge of Square Enix Japanese-developed titles, such as Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, NieR and other series (exact titles not required, but a strong plus). Interest in and passion for video games or entertainment a must.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel

  • This position may require domestic and international travel.

  • Due to COVID-19, as of January 4, 2022, this role has been placed in a temporary remote position and may return to a Hybrid Work Model (date TBD).
