Snowed in Studios is a game development studio based in Ottawa, Canada. We are currently looking to add a Technical Training Specialist to our already amazing team. As a "Snowmie", you will use your excellent communication, programming and management skillset to help shape the future of our onboarding and training programs.

As a Technical Training Specialist you will be integral in the process of helping Snowed In grow and develop. You will guide our programmers in their development and help to place them in a team that will best suit their strengths and interests.

This is a brand new role at Snowed In Studios that blends the skills of a programmer and teacher all in one. As Snowed In's first Technical Training Specialist, you will play a key role in identifying and meeting our onboarding and training needs.

Some of the cool stuff you’ll be doing:

  • Be the first friendly face new Snowed In developers see when they join the company.

  • Act as a representative of the company's values to new developers.

  • Provide reassurance to new developers who may be anxious about starting at a new company.

    • Design, implement and refine processes to support new onboarding developers.

    • Identify the strengths and training needs (both technical and non-technical) of new developers in order to facilitate integration into their next projects.

    • Guide the growth of our developers through individualized training programs.

    • Work closely with our various teams to identify their staffing needs and match them up with the developers that best suit their needs.

    • Provide technical feedback through frequent code reviews and technical discussions.

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • 5+ years of professional programming experience in game development.

  • Experience managing a team of programmers.

  • Advanced programming skills in C++ with a strong understanding of fundamentals.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Experience with C++ game engines such as Unreal Engine.

  • Experience working in large codebases.

  • A keen eye identifying the strengths and training needs of developers that they are mentoring/managing.

Bonus Points for experience in the following areas:

  • Experience on a triple-A project.

  • Experience creating training programs for programmers.
