As a Senior Characters Shading Artist, you will be involved in many aspects of the look creating high detailed texture maps and materials for the movies characters or props, working in coordination with production designer and Art department to deliver a visually impressive look.

Responsibilities

  • Paints textures utilizing photography and pre-existing textures
  • Paints stylized textures from concepts following the look of the show
  • Create procedural textures from Substance designer
  • Ability to create, adapt, and iterate, within a variety of artistic styles
  • Ability to properly research and work independently in absence of concept art
  • Precisely and accurately follows reference and direction to create the desired look of a surface
  • Create stylized painted textures and also realistic textures
  • Works with a production team, art director, shading supervisor and visual effects supervisor to create the desired look that may reflect any of a wide variety of styles
  • Understand and translate the vision of the production designer into the look of the movie
  • Keep up on current artistic methodologies and on technology trends and tools that best suit the production and the company, in the development of a stronger creative and technical environment
  • Deep knowledge making uv´s
  • Knowledge of skinning, rigging, lighting and optimization
  • Works together with the team providing them with support, guidance and instruction in areas that contribute towards their artistic and professional growth
  • Follows supervisor’s and lead's guidance
  • Guide and mentor other team members

Requirements

  • Over 4 years of professional experience in VFX or animation industries
  • At least 3 year of experience in the animation industry
  • Extensive experience with Mari
  • Extensive experience with Maya
  • Extensive experience with Substance Designer
  • Extensive experience with Arnold render
  • Experience with traditional drawing, and/or painting a plus
  • Experience with Zbrush
  • A good eye for color, composition and detail
  • Knowledge of Houdini, Scripting is a plus
  • Knowledge of classical painting is a plus
  • High English level desirable
