Join Romero Games as we develop John Romeroโ€™s next First Person Shooter in partnership with a major publisher! This is an unprecedented opportunity to join a thriving independent development studio and work on a high-profile title that will be played by millions of gamers worldwide.

We are looking for a Technical Animator to join our growing team on a full-time basis. The Technical Animator will be responsible for the technical design and in-game implementation of character animations. You should be able to solve any technological issues related to animation production. In close cooperation with the Design, Concept, and Art teams you will work on improving the existing pipelines and developing new tools to assist and expedite asset and animation creation.

This position is open to remote work for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Concept, Design, and Art team to collaboratively bring characters to life

  • In-game implementation and optimization of gameplay animation features and assets in cooperation with animators and designers

  • Develop technical animation pipelines and tools to help deliver cutting edge animations

  • Create automated animation setups and rigs

  • Creatively and proactively solve resource-restricted technical challenges while working on the animation assets that make it in game

Requirements

  • Experience in creating animation assets for PC and Console games using tools such as 3DS Max, Maya, Motion Builder, etc.

  • An understanding of animation graphs and techniques - state machines, blend trees, blendspaces, etc.

  • At least three years of relevant experience in the game industry

  • Strong understanding of character animation pipelines

  • Self-driven, responsible and detail-oriented

  • Passion for computer games

  • Ability to adapt to new technologies

Preferences

  • Experience using Unreal Engine

  • Experience working with motion capture performances and data

  • Knowledge of complex rigging
