WHY CONTENT SAFETY?

Safety and Civility is Roblox's #1 priority and our mission is to protect our community. As a Senior Software Engineer on Content Safety, you'll focus on Critical Harms. You'll build systems to identify and address some of the highest-risk and most challenging problems we face, including predatory behavior and child endangerment. You will report to an engineering leader on our Content Safety Team.

You Will:

  • Build high-scale systems to detect and address problematic behavior on Roblox

  • Be a tech lead for the team and mentor junior engineers

  • Identify opportunities and build tooling to support investigators, working in close partnership with our operations team

  • Help define the team's roadmap and technical foundations towards keeping users on Roblox safe

  • Partner with ML counterparts to help design/develop real time offenders detection

  • Help establish next-generation standards on the backend stack for the team

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development

  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping large-scale services to production in any domain, such as backend, frontend, or ML

  • 5+ years of experience working on multi-person codebases, including open-source or personal projects

  • Familiarity with data pipelines and ETL

You Are:

  • Versatile: You are comfortable with several languages and technologies already and you take a creative and strategic approach to solving hard problems

  • Analytical: Excited to investigate large, ambiguous problems, and quantify the problems and the solutions

  • User Oriented: You always start with the needs of the user, whether they are Roblox users or internal engineers before architecting a solution.

  • Team-oriented: You lift up your peers and find ways to make the team stronger

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$233,840—$283,780 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
