In collaboration with Lucasfilm, the Star Wars FPS Team is developing a new AAA FPS in the Star Wars galaxy. Inspired by classic titles like Dark Forces and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, our story-driven single-player game is being developed from the ground up leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5. We combine this inspiration and technology with Respawn’s pedigree for making best-in-class shooters to deliver a brand-new experience our players will love.

We are recruiting a Senior Cinematics Artist to join our growing team. As a master of visual storytelling, you deeply understand visual camera language and cinematography. While some animation skills would be required, this role will thrive in the previs and shot design stage of production, taking scenes from beginning to final quality with a focus on storytelling and pacing of real-time cinematics and narrative content in-engine.

What you’ll do...

  • Reporting to the Lead Cinematic Artist you’ll be crafting and implementing real-time cinematics from the ground up.

  • Assist in shaping the pipelines and processes required to deliver high-quality cinematics, from pre-vis through to completed shots.

  • Work with Directors and the Lead Cine Artist to achieve the overall creative direction of the scenes.

  • Collaborate with multiple disciplines including Animation, Art, Tech, and Level Design to ensure the needs of the scenes are communicated and maintained.

  • Assist with the prepping of mocap and performance capture shoots.

  • Be able to predict dependencies and production requirements and successfully communicate those requirements to the team.

  • Be a champion for our story and characters. Convey emotions through cinematic cameras and bring creative solutions to strengthen the scenes.

Ideally, you will have...

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a relevant field (previs, layout, game cinematics)

  • A strong understanding of visual storytelling, cinematography, editing, and scene composition.

  • Ability to quickly communicate ideas for a fast, early iteration

  • Experience with body and facial performance capture pipelines.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the principles of animation.

  • Experience working with real-time game engines and toolsets, Unreal and Sequencer preferred.

  • Solid working knowledge of Maya, MotionBuilder, and professional editing software.

  • Background in photography or cinematography is a plus.

If this opportunity sounds like a great fit for you, please submit your resume and portfolio and we will get back to you once we have reviewed it.
