Remedy Entertainment, the creator of Quantum Break®, Max Payne®, Alan Wake® and Death Rally® and one of the leading independent game studios in the world is looking for a Senior VFX Artist (F2P/GaaS) for an exciting new online multiplayer game

We are looking for a Senior Visual Effects Artist; a team player who has a lot of experience in creating high quality effects and optimizing them. We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid of taking responsibility and is willing to take an active role in developing and coaching our talented team of visual effect artists. As a Senior VFX Artist you will proactively implement video game special effects following the project’s artistic direction and production deadlines.

The ideal candidate should have strong artistic skills, and an understanding of the technical constraints on the target platforms. You have a knack for transforming ideas into fluid animations and rich effects. You are experienced with industry standard tools and have a strong portfolio that showcases your skills

Responsibilities

  • Execute on a range of visual effects styles from realistic to stylized
  • Work with the Art Director, Artists and Programmers to create and deliver VFX that embodies the creative vision of our games
  • Ensure that VFX are optimized in accordance with the approved game style and technical requirements constraints
  • Create and maintain workflow documentation for your team's content
  • Ensure that consistent communication is maintained, in all directions, to guarantee the quality of the game
  • Contribute to the development of the VFX craft
  • Be a mentor for the more junior artists in the team

Requirements and qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience as a Senior VFX Artist with at least 1 shipped AAA title or equivalent work in a related field
  • Portfolio demonstrating experience in creating VFX using Unreal Engine specifically in Niagra, Cascade, Blueprint, Material Authoring and Dynamic Lighting
  • Experience using industry standard 3D content creation tools (Houdini, Maya, 3DSMax, Substance, Photoshop, etc)
  • Excellent at interpreting and transforming abstract ideas into compelling effects
  • Ability to take constructive feedback from leads, publishers and other team members and channel it into improving the product
  • Dedicated to contributing towards a friendly team environment
  • Experience and knowledge of animation principles
  • Time management, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication in English

The ideal candidate will also have

  • Experience with AAA 1st or 3rd person action titles
  • Understanding of performance and GPU rendering and the ability to author HLSL/GLSL shaders for creating real-time content, lighting and materials
  • Comfortable with scripting tools (Python/Lua)
  • Experience in working with proprietary engines
  • Interest and understanding of F2P/GaaS: you like to play F2P/Gaas games in your free time
  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban etc.)
