As a Lead Tools Engineer, you will lead efforts to build the tools, pipelines, and workflows that allow the rest of Rec Room Inc. to develop and ship weekly updates to millions of users quickly and with confidence.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

Lead and mentor a team of tools engineers and tech artists to work on a wide variety of features and systems
Guide the development and maintenance of the internal tools and pipelines used across all disciplines at Rec Room
Work autonomously to identify, diagnose, and address technical and production bottlenecks across the studio
Level up your coworkers by providing guidance and mentorship in both technical and soft skills
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Rec Room to understand their needs and build the technology that allows them to thrive in their own roles

WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH:

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
5+ years of professional games development experience
2+ years of experience leading teams of Software Engineers
Experience building or maintaining backend tools, pipelines, or build systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Unity, Unreal, or a similar game engine
Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous development environments
A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

BONUS POINTS IF YOU ALSO HAVE:

Experience with modern gaming consoles and/or mobile game development
Experience with live services and rapid-deployment
Experience developing and maintaining build pipelines
Experience developing art tools and pipelines
Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
Experience developing UI systems
Experience with localization and internationalization
Experience with Unity asset bundles or other content delivery systems
Experience with analytics and test frameworks
