Role Overview:

  • Management of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) activities to comply with take-back (Extended Producer Responsibility) regulations
  • Management of SIE activities to comply with resource efficiency/ circular economy policy/ obligations and commitments.
  • Support SIE address climate change and sustainability issues.
  • Manage external affairs across a range of sustainability topics.
  • Trade association/ industry positioning and engagement.

Executed by;

  • Planning, organising, auditing, and ensuring accurate reporting for product, packaging, battery, manual take-back compliance across SIE territories.
  • Tracking and preparing for global current and emerging take-back and resource efficiency legislation.
  • Ensuring compliance with the EU and UK Games Console Voluntary Agreement.
  • Supporting work on developing internal and external content addressing climate and sustainability issues.
  • Representing SIE within industry trade associations, working groups and standards organisations, liaising with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Driving continuous improvement in the resource efficiency of SIE's products and packaging.

What you’ll be doing:

Management of take-back/Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance:

  • Maintenance of product/ packaging data on SAP (via coordinating wight data and conducting annual product/ packaging audits).
  • Provide global territories/distributors with data/reports/ training as required to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct periodic take-back tenders with compliance schemes to ensure competitiveness.
  • Track developing global take-back/EPR legislation (including modulated fees), advise the business accordingly and prepare for compliance.

Management of resource efficiency and circular economy obligations and commitments:

  • Monitor/track progression and development of global resource efficiency/ circular economy legislation. Update the business and advise on how to anticipate and mitigate compliance.
  • Ensure compliance to and represent SIE in the development of the resource efficiency commitments within the EU and UK Games Console Voluntary Agreement.

Support strategic environmental projects:

  • Support SIE work on developing content addressing climate and sustainability issues.
  • Support SIE meet its commitments to the UN Playing for the Planet Alliance e.g., studio participation in the UN Green Games Jam.
  • Ad hoc CSR/ sustainability projects, as necessary.

Represent SIE internally and externally across sustainability topics:

  • Represent SIE/ wider industry positions within trade associations, working group meetings and in the CENELEC standardisation process across a range of sustainability topics.
  • Maintain communications with SIE internal networks and contacts (across the wider Sony Group).

Manage the global packaging guideline and benchmark:

  • Monitor global packaging legislation, update internal guideline accordingly and advise the business.
  • Complete packaging benchmarking for relevant packaging.

Support the wider Environment and Technical Compliance team, as required:

  • Undertake general administrative and system-based tasks/ provide holiday cover where required.

What we are looking for:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Minimum 5 year’s relevant take-back and resource efficiency experience in a corporate environment with a good track record.
  • Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders across a global complex matrix organisation.
  • Previous experience influencing policy development.
  • Good IT skills - Proficient in all of Microsoft Office, SAP experience beneficial.
  • Good presentation and influencing skills.

  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects with accuracy – attention to detail essential.
  • Relationship builder, who can communicate across levels of an organisation effectively.
