We are looking for a super switched on 3D Animator to work in our amazing art team.

As a Candidate you should be comfortable animating humans, animals and creatures of all shapes and sizes. You will need to excel at convincing character animation and working as part of a team.

This role is full-time, based in-house. We can consider permanent or in-house contract employment but not freelance or agencies. You must be able to legally work in Australia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use traditional animation fundamentals to craft game motions that range from stylized to hyper-realistic.
  • Respond well to instruction, feedback, take initiative in one's work and be willing to iterate multiple times.
  • Troubleshoot tool implementations and suggest workflow improvements in order to increase the efficiency and creativity of the team.
  • To create high-quality animation assets to integrate with your titles.
  • Constant research & interpretation of the latest trends in animation.
  • Help improve and innovate of workflow practices
  • To help in reinforcing great teamwork and amazing studio culture!

REQUIRED SKILLS​

  • 3+ years of experience in video game production with shipped titles in an Animation role.
  • Excellent knowledge of animating using Maya, with outstanding animation skills demonstrating knowledge and application of weight, timing, pace, poses and storytelling
  • Excellent understanding of how animation must work in harmony with the game design
  • Excellent initiative, self-motivation, communication, organisational and problem solving skills, as well as team working and the ability to accept and follow direction
  • Advanced level of knowledge with animation tools
  • Genuine passion for games and animation, bringing characters to life with realistic human and animal motion
  • Ability to integrate animations into game-engine.
  • Advanced level of knowledge with either Unity or Unreal Engine. (Or both!)
  • The ability to prioritise and work on multiple tasks simultaneously and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently to get the job done without day-to-day direction.
  • Understanding of mobile / console games and the industry as a whole.
  • Conduct strategy audits with your lead to identify further opportunities to improve the way we do things.
  • Think on their feet and act quickly.
  • Have a can-do with the ability to turn a negative into a positive, no problem is too great.

BONUS POINTS

  • Familiarity in Rigging and Skinning with Autodesk Maya.
  • Additional art skills such as drawing, modelling and texturing.
  • Good knowledge of anatomy and a thorough understanding of biomechanics, kinesiology for humanoids and animals.
