The Trust and Safety team is responsible for detecting, mitigating and preventing risks across a wide range of products and games: from building effective content moderation systems to detecting and defending against cheaters and hackers. This role is central to our Trust and Safety work and spans the lifecycle of Trust and Safety efforts: prevention, detection, enforcement, measurement.

You will work with cross-functional partners, game and platform teams across the company to ensure we have the right signals, feedback loops, product features and tools. You will optimize our productivity by iterating on existing tools and processes and developing new ones. Your work will result in streamlined workflows, improved processes, and ultimately, a better experience for our users. This is an influential and strategic role within the Platform organization.

This role is based out of our San Francisco, Sunnyvale, New York or Bellevue, WA offices.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop the product roadmap and technical requirements for our efforts to build, maintain and deploy robust content moderation systems and tools across across formats and languages,
  • Build and maintain internal investigative tooling for the Trust and Safety team, ensuring effective systems to detect and punish bad actors while maintaining high standards of privacy and security across the organization,
  • Develop the product roadmap and technical requirements for our efforts to build, maintain and deploy our Anti-cheat infrastructure across titles
  • Develop and drive a strong QA strategy for these efforts, notably evaluating a broad range of classifiers used across Trust and Safety tools to ensure that tools deployed are efficient, responsible and fair,
  • Keep up with cutting-edge innovation, technologies, techniques and best practices across the entire anti-abuse space to ensure Niantic is adopting the state of the art in this area,
  • Evaluate new product opportunities (both buy and build solutions) and bring forward proposals and influence to expand product and business capabilities with data and intelligent automation at the forefront,
  • Propose and align stakeholders on success metrics across the trust and safety product stack, and be accountable for the products’ success. Act as the principal owner for monitoring and communicating product status and key issues to XFN partners.
  • Define and drive technical product scope and prioritization on Trust and Safety tools and be flexible to iterate/change per latest developments to meet business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience in Product, Technical Program or similar role leading a cross-functional technical team focused on internal anti-abuse tooling.
  • Passion for Trust and Safety and integrity, demonstrated by past experience in similar roles.
  • Ideally, previous experience building and maintaining content moderation systems.
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interface well with technical, operations and business partners at all levels.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication ability to a diverse audience, including C-level executives, product, and technical members of the team.
  • Experience developing roadmaps and strategies for improving operations, platform efficiencies - all without sacrificing quality.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities, and a high tolerance for ambiguity.
