Live events are a true extension of Niantic products and highlight our core pillars of exploration, exercise, and real-world social. Niantic is looking for a Director, Global Live Events to lead the live event marketing team for Pokémon GO. This role would oversee the strategy and execution of major events such as Pokémon GO Fest, Pokémon GO Tour, and Pokémon GO Safari Zones. The ideal candidate is an authentic Pokémon GO fan who has experience producing large scale events and managing diverse global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build a quarterly/annual live events marketing calendar aligned to marketing OKRs, key campaigns, and business objectives, in close partnership with product managers.
  • Oversee the Pokémon GO live event P&L, driving towards profitability across all live event initiatives.
  • Manage a team of direct and dotted-line reports globally, building career roadmaps and establishing growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams to conceptualize and execute live events globally, ranging from 5,000 to 300,000 players.
  • Engage with executive leadership to keep them apprised of current live event statuses as well as presenting data-driven results and recaps.
  • Maintain relationships between agencies, vendors, and partners to ensure quality events are executed on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience producing large scale live events.
  • 4+ years experience managing and building high performing teams.
  • Passion for Pokémon GO and the Pokémon franchise.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication.
  • Willingness to travel.

Plus If...

  • Experience with project management tools such as Asana.
  • Proficiency in G Suite a plus.
