Niantic’s Augmented Reality Engineering Team is seeking a Build Infrastructure Engineer to build systems that scale at the heart of high-performance mobile clients for our AR platform. You will work to create workflow pipelines, consistent, dependable release processes, and tooling that empower engineers to deliver planet-scale AR experiences across Niantic and work to extend Niantic’s client platform to the next generation of AR and wearable devices.

This opening represents multiple Build Infrastructure related roles with varied areas of ownership.
Responsibilities
(Build Infrastructure Engineer)

  • Create and refine build processes for on device applications and server solutions.
  • Work closely with other build engineers to create effective team-wide build solutions.
  • Work to enable and streamline developer efficiency thought effective build and testing systems.
  • Coordinate and deploy binary and library releases in conjunction with product updates and fixes.
  • Collaborate within the team and cross-functionally to ensure build systems are maintained.

(Build Infrastructure Manager)

  • Serve team needs.
  • Work in a cross functional environment.
  • Coach team members and foster their career development through measurable goals.
  • Employ emotional intelligence to diffuse tensions and improve cross-team relations.
  • Recruit and hire great talent for the team.
  • Ensure code and technology meets internal standards.
  • Identifying developers needs and defining plans to help fulfill those needs.

Qualifications

  • (Manager Role) 3 years experience leading teams of 4+ engineers.
  • Hold a BS in Computer Science or other technical majors.
  • Must know some C/C++ and be proficient in at least one other programming language (Python, C#, Perl, Groovy).
  • Proficiency with a shell environment (bash, zsh, ect.) and Unix/Linux commands.
  • A Fast-learner with a desire to improve the developer experience of their fellow engineers.

Plus If...

  • Experience integrating CI and other tools with code repositories.
  • Experience setting up continuous integration pipelines and building systems (e.g. Travis, gitlab-ci, circle-ci, jenkins, etc.).
  • Experience building multi-language cross-platform code bases.
