Job Description

This position will oversee all aspects of starting a competitive collegiate eSports program. Duties will include recruiting student-athletes, monitoring academic progress toward degree, budgeting, scheduling, competition and practice preparation, individual and program development, facility and equipment maintenance, fundraising, and community engagement activities. Ensure all assigned activities are operated in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations of institutional, conference and national athletic/sports programs associations such as NAIA.

Review students day-to-day gaming play to enhance their ability and skill to contribute to the overall team. Develop team captain and provide structure of leadership and support for the team. Create benchmark of students success both academically and competitive gaming. Build a team account on Twitch.tv where current students, gamers and prospective students can watch the students and coach play, while ensuring branding and content align with the University brand.

Continually seek out new channels and messages to target prospective students to recruit them to join the Mizzou esports program and attend Mizzou. Develop relationships with high school coaches of esports programs to develop a continuous pipeline of prospective students. Work with admissions to ensure student visits and tours are a seamless experience.

Shift

  • Full time; hours will vary and may include some nights and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in coaching teams and providing positive, constructive feedback.
  • Competitive eSports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team based elements such as Overwatch, League of Legends, or similar games.
  • Experience with Twitch Partner or Twitch Affiliate account.
  • Experience in recruiting.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours.
