This position is with our Mighty Games Studio based in Fitzroy, Victoria.

Founded in 2013, Mighty Games’ experienced team focuses on developing proprietary AI-based technology solutions for the video game industry. The studio has developed a platform of scalable, artificial intelligence led, automated, build and testing tools optimized for game development pipelines. Mighty is currently running thousands of hours of automated testing per day on client titles across a range of mobile games, console titles, multiplayer and cross-play games in a variety of genres.

Job Description

Mighty Build and Test, A Keywords Studio, are currently recruiting for a Graduate Machine Learning Programmer in game development to work with a growing team of enthusiastic and collaborative engineers. We specialise in creating tools to accelerate and empower game developers. In particular, our tools assist in automating the build and deployment processes of games creation as well as automated Quality Assurance testing.

The role of Machine Learning Engineer at Mighty Build and Test is a technical role where you'll work with the existing Build and Test suite of tools and develop new multi-modal technologies to further expand our capabilities. This role while at Mighty Build and Test, you can expect to:

  • Collaborate with a diverse range of specialist engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and research in emerging disciplines within game development.

  • Work with Multi-Modal Machine Learning technologies to analyse game-states and respond with simulated player-input.

  • Work with a wide range of partner teams and help them create the best possible games across mobile, desktop, console and VR/AR projects from Indie to AAA.

  • Work Remotely! While many of our team work from our Melbourne office, we also have team members in most Australian cities and remote teams overseas. Work wherever suits you best.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Machine Learning Engineer at Mighty Build and Test can be broken down into the following core areas

Development

  • Build expert knowledge of Mighty Build and Test's existing AI Technologies, and work with other engineers to identify new opportunities for Machine Learning in the testing pipeline.

  • Experiment with Reinforcement and Imitation Learning models that allow AI to play games and identify defects with a focus on robustness and minimization of model re-training.

  • Prototype new Machine Learning technologies within the studio, and help identify and establish examples that can be built upon by other team members.

  • Share knowledge about emerging Machine Learning technologies and their applicability to games testing or defect identification / categorization.

  • Integrate testing system APIs into Unity, Unreal and C++ engine games.

  • Create bespoke API functions where required for specific titles and testing use-cases.

  • Adapt, test and document changes to API systems where required.

  • Write or update code for existing internal toolsets to expand testing AI capability needed to support new feature requests from clients.

  • Write and update internal documentation for new features, processes and client requirements.

  • Test and provide feedback on tools and development features developed by other members of the Mighty Build and Test team.

General

Providing general assistance, guidance and support to all areas of the business by;

  • Attending Team Weekly Ops and Individual Performance Meetings

  • Keeping abreast of daily/ weekly departmental priorities

  • Documenting work done in internal ticketing tools

  • Assisting with staff training if required

Qualifications

DEMONSTRATED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or minimum Three Years' Experience in Software Engineering, Games or related Industry.

  • Proven experience working with Machine Learning technologies in some capacity.

  • Solid experience coding in Python, C++, CUDA or similarly relevant languages.

  • Robust understanding of game development genres, mechanics and development practices.

DESIRABLE SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working on game projects.

  • QA, CI/CD, Production or other skillsets.

  • Ability to write code in C# and/or Lua.
