Lightforge Games is looking for a Materials Artist!
We're looking for a Materials Artist who can determine what our materials needs are at a project level and help the art team realize their vision.
You'll play a critical role in shaping our game's look and how our artists work. We are open to a wide range of seniority levels with a focus on shaders and layered materials (armor, weapons, attachments).

Responsibilities
Create Physically Based Rendering (PBR) styled materials and shaders for the game
Develop and maintain the PBR material and shader pipelines for the project
Determine process for integrating and applying PBR materials and shaders to in-game assets with an eye towards how materials look in the full spectrum of in-game environments and lighting
Work in collaboration with art production to determine materials generation asset lists and prioritization
Tactfully communicate ideas and feedback on how to improve artwork, processes, game design, and company culture.

Requirements
Detailed knowledge of Substance Designer and Painter (or other PBR tools)
Strong understanding of PBR rendering process and materials
Strong understanding of how light impacts materials
Strong understanding of color theory
Ability to communicate feedback in a concise and constructive way - including to resources external to the studio
Self-motivated and proactive, with ability to fully embrace a remote work culture.
Pluses
Experience with any Game Engines like Unity and Unreal
Experience with procedural material generation
Experience with multi-platform games and art requirements, particularly with Unreal
Experience working in a remote environment
