We are looking for an experienced Technical Animator to create and aid Animation Systems, which enable the wider team to deliver a truly immersive gameplay experience for our debut first-person horror title, Deathground.

Responsibilities

  • In this role you will report to the Game Director and Tech Director and cover the following areas:

  • Implement provided animations within UE4 (e.g. via State Machines and Animation Blueprint).

  • Guide the development team with planning, knowledge and general technical support.

  • Work closely with Animators, Engineering and Design to manage the overall look and feel of dinosaur and character animations in-game.

  • Create runtime procedural animation systems to reduce animation workload and enhance believability/readability of characters in-game.

  • Run performance testing and optimisation.

  • Maintain clear documentation for use by internal teams.

  • Plan, implement and maintain in-game technical animation solutions that are reliable, user-friendly and performant.

  • Support both Creature and Character animation.

Requirements

  • Fundamental knowledge of animation tools and pipelines, specifically within UE4.

  • Experience and thorough knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 and Blueprints.

  • Experience maintaining animation State Machines within UE4 or comparable systems.

  • Knowledge of animation software such as Maya, MotionBuilder or 3ds Max.

  • Enhance believability/readability of characters in-game.

  • Experience working with a commercially shipped game as a Technical Animator.

  • Maintain clear documentation for use by internal teams.

  • Plan, implement and maintain in-game technical animation solutions that are reliable, user-friendly and performant.

  • Support both Creature and Character animation.

Desirable Skills

  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a team setting.

  • Comfortable using written and spoken English.

  • Comfortable working remotely and able to manage your own time.

  • A keen interest and understanding of horror games.

  • Basic C++ knowledge is advantageous.

  • Python scripting for tools creation would be advantageous.

  • Networking knowledge would be advantageous.

  • Experience with control rig.

  • Experience with sequencer.
