Maze Theory is pushing the boundaries of interactive and immersive character-based story telling within VR. As part of our steady growth plans, we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Unity Technical Artist to join us working on our VR, console and mobile titles.

You will work remotely, alongside the rest of the development team, with the future option of working in our London office when suitable.

You will work closely with the art technical director and programming team. Your responsibilities will include developing, improving and maintaining tools and systems that benefit production and performance. You will also be required to cost tasks and effectively maintain documentation and code. The Unity Technical Artist will also work alongside design, art and code to develop immersive and compelling environments.

Kickstart is a Government scheme aimed to help support young people back into work after the economic effects of the pandemic. The Job Placements are only available for Universal Credit claimants aged 16 to 24 and out of education who are referred to employers by their respective Work Coaches.

Proven experience as a Unity technical artist with at least one shipped title along with experience with VR, including Quest and PSVR. Experienced in the full suite of character animation within Unity and an understanding of performance and optimisation across multiple platforms. Experience with C# and Python and an understanding of shader language, OpenGL SL (GLSL), High-Level Shader Language (HLSL). Experience in developing efficient pipeline scripts for Maya and Substance Pro-active.

An ability to communicate effectively, self-motivated, able to work as part of a small team as well as individually.

Some knowledge of Maya rigging and skinning as well as knowledge or experience with VFX a bonus!
